This article is part 3 of the series in which part 1 can be seen here.
In this article we will discuss how to carefully answer PSLE science structured questions that asks you to identify the aim or conclusion of the experiment.
What is the aim??
For experiments, usually there will be 1 variable that the person conducting the experiment will purposely change. Then we have another variable known as the result. So all you have to do is to identify both and phrase in your answer.
Here is an example of a question.
Purposely changed —– Surface area of fruit.
Result —– Time taken for fruit to reach the ground.
Answer Guide
To find out how surface area of the fruit affects the time taken for the fruit to reach the ground.
What is the conclusion??
To answer questions about conclusions, you have to first identify the aim. Use method above to find the aim. Then you can conclude.
Purposely changed —–surface area of wooden block resting on glass sheet
Result —- force needed to move the block
Aim —- Whether the surface area of wooden block resting on glass sheet will change the force needed to move the block.
Conclusion —- no change
Answer guide
The surface area of the wooden block resting on the glass sheets does not affect the force affected to move it across the ground.
